A Celebration of Indian Folk Dance, Live Music and Cultural Heritage

The High Commission of India, Nicosia invites residents and friends of India in Cyprus to experience “Rhythms of Rajasthan”, a vibrant cultural presentation showcasing the colour, energy and artistic traditions of Rajasthan.

The programme will feature Rakhi Sapera and Troupe, a 10-member cultural group from Jaipur empanelled by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), the Government of India’s principal organisation for promoting international cultural exchange and presenting Indian art and culture abroad.

Through expressive folk dance, live music, traditional costumes and dynamic stagecraft, the troupe will offer audiences an engaging introduction to Rajasthan’s rich living heritage.

What to Expect

The evening will bring together:

  • Celebrated Rajasthani folk-dance traditions
  • Live folk music and rhythmic accompaniment
  • Colourful traditional costumes
  • Graceful movement and energetic stage performances
  • A family-friendly cultural experience for audiences of all ages

The presentation will draw upon well-known folk traditions such as Kalbelia, Ghoomar, Bhavai, Chari and Banjara, while preserving the flow and surprise of the live performance.

Admission and Registration

Admission is free. Prior registration is requested.

Seating is unreserved and will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration will assist the High Commission in managing audience arrangements and does not constitute a reserved or numbered seat.

About the Troupe

Rakhi Sapera and Troupe is a Jaipur-based cultural ensemble known for presenting Rajasthan’s folk traditions with authenticity, artistry and vibrant stage presence. The troupe’s performances combine dance, music, costume and storytelling to create an immersive cultural experience.

Its participation in Cyprus forms part of the High Commission’s cultural outreach and celebrations marking India’s 80th Independence Day, while also contributing to stronger cultural cooperation and people-to-people ties between India and Cyprus.
