MANDATORY APOSTILLE OF DOCUMENTS ISSUED BY THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS

PUBLIC NOTICE

All Indian nationals and other applicants residing in the Republic of Cyprus are hereby informed that the High Commission of India, Nicosia, shall accept applications in respect of the following consular services ONLY if the documents issued by the Republic of Cyprus, submitted in support of such applications, are duly authenticated with an APOSTILLE by the competent authority of the Republic of Cyprus:

i). Registration of the birth of a child born in Cyprus;

ii). Registration of death; and

iii). Grant of an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) Card etc.

2. Accordingly, all Indian nationals and other applicants are hereby directed to ensure that all documents issued by the Republic of Cyprus which are to be submitted in support of the above-mentioned applications — including, but not limited to, Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, certificates relating to citizenship, nationality or residence status, and any other official certificates, records or extracts — bear the Apostille certificate issued by the competent Central Authority of the Republic of Cyprus, namely the Ministry of Justice and Public Order (Department of Apostille Certifications), in accordance with the provisions of the Hague Convention of 5 October 1961 (Laws of the Republic of Cyprus No. 50/72 and 91/72). {https://www.gov.cy/mjpo/en/justice-sector/apostille/}

3. Where any such document is issued in Greek, or in any language other than English, it shall be accompanied by a certified English translation thereof.

4. It is clarified that applications which are not supported by duly apostilled documents shall not be accepted by the High Commission of India, Nicosia, and shall be returned to the applicant for compliance.

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING THE APOSTILLE IN THE REPUBLIC OF CYPRUS

1. Service hours at Nicosia: Monday to Friday, 08:00–14:30 hours (queue numbers are issued until 14:00 hours). Service hours at Limassol: Monday to Friday, 08:00–14:30 hours.
