Prime Minister and President of Cyprus Interact with Business Leaders from Cyprus and India

As part of his official visit to the Republic of Cyprus, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, along with President of Cyprus H.E. Nikos Christodoulides, participated in a high-level business roundtable with leading CEOs and business representatives from Cyprus and India in Limassol on 15 June 2025.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore avenues of economic cooperation, trade, and investment partnerships across priority sectors, including finance, technology, infrastructure, shipping, energy, and innovation. Business leaders from both countries expressed keen interest in deepening commercial ties and leveraging India’s growing market and reform-oriented economy.
The Prime Minister underscored the significance of Cyprus as a strong economic partner for India, particularly in the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) sector. He highlighted India’s position as the world’s fifth-largest economy and shared India’s aspirations to become the third-largest in the coming years. He further emphasised the importance of mutual trust, transparency, and policy stability in fostering robust business engagements.
The event also marked the announcement of key bilateral initiatives, including:

The launch of the India–Greece–Cyprus Business and Investment Forum, to facilitate trilateral cooperation in innovation, shipping, logistics, green energy, and other emerging areas.

Advancing discussions to promote fintech and digital connectivity, especially in areas like UPI-based cross-border payments and capital market collaborations.
The Prime Minister invited Cypriot businesses to explore India’s rapidly evolving sectors such as semiconductors, green hydrogen, Artificial Intelligence, and digital public infrastructure. He reaffirmed India's commitment to promoting a free, open, and rules-based international economic order and welcomed Cyprus’s support for India-EU trade agreements.
This engagement was a key element of Prime Minister Modi’s bilateral agenda in Cyprus, aimed at expanding the strategic and economic dimensions of the India–Cyprus partnership.
