India Participates in the Musical Promenade in Vavla 2025
India in Cyprus (High Commission of India, Nicosia) proudly partnered in the Musical Promenade in Vavla 2025, a distinguished cultural event that celebrated music, artistic expression, and community spirit in the picturesque village of Vavla.
The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Manish, High Commissioner of India to Cyprus; Mr. Sofronis Sofroniou, Mayor of Lefkara; and Mr. George Pattichis, President of the Vavla Community Council.
Musical Performance
A key highlight of the evening was the performance by Ms. Pelva Naik, renowned Indian classical vocalist, who presented a soulful Dhrupad recital — one of the oldest and most profound forms of Indian classical music. Her performance created a unique cultural bridge, connecting Eastern and Western musical traditions, and was met with heartfelt appreciation by the audience.
Art Exhibition
The village’s historic school served as a venue for a thoughtfully curated art exhibition, showcasing the works of Pascalis Anastasi, Carolina Souss, and Konstantinos Kyrtis — celebrating the vibrancy of contemporary Cypriot art.
Culinary Experience
The event also featured a delightful array of authentic Cypriot cuisine and handmade local products. Prozak Bar from Nicosia added to the ambience with a curated selection of refreshing beverages and cocktails, contributing to the festive and welcoming atmosphere of the village.
Remarks by the High Commissioner
In his address, High Commissioner Mr. Manish extended his gratitude to the Vavla Development Association, with special mention of Dr. Sophie Fetokaki, for their warm hospitality and exceptional organization. He praised the local community’s efforts in creating a meaningful platform for intercultural dialogue and artistic celebration. The High Commissioner reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening cultural ties with Cyprus and expressed India’s continued support for initiatives that foster deeper understanding and collaboration between our two nations.
